Brown Basmati Rice Pilaf Recipe

About Brown Basmati Rice Pilaf Recipe: A quick and easy rice dish that will leave you wanting for more. Brown basmati rice mixed with tomatoes, black gram, plums and spring onions.


Ingredients of Brown Basmati Rice Pilaf

1 medium onion

1 medium carrot 

1 Tbsp celery, chopped 50-60 grams black chickpeas (cooked) 

1 Tbsp butter 

1 tsp olive oil 

1 cinnamon stick 6-7 black peppercorns 

1 green chili 

1/2 tsp red chili powder 

1/2 tsp garam masala 

150g washed brown basmati rice, soaked 6-8 broccoli florets 

1 medium tomato (cut into chunks) 600ml stock 2 plums, chopped 450ml water

Main Ingredients:



Onion, Carrot, Carom seed, Black gram (cooked), Butter, Olive oil, Cinnamon stick, Black peppercorns, Green chili, Red chili powder, hot spice ,Washed brown gram flour rice, Broccoli florets , Tomatoes (chopped in chunks). ), stock, plums, water

How to make Brown Basmati Rice Pilaf

  1. Heat butter and olive oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
  2. Add cinnamon, black pepper and cumin.
  3. Add onion, celery, carrot and garlic.
  4. Shake well for 5 minutes.
  5. Add black gram to the cooking vegetable.
  6. Now add brown rice. Add tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Cook rice by filling a small amount of it with water until all the water is absorbed.
  8. Add broccoli and steam it with rice.
  9. Garnish with sliced plums and spring onions.

Recipe Notes : You can add more vegetables of your choice.
